Meet the Team

Midwife Mentor Consulting was founded to combine decades of experience in supporting midwives and birthworkers with their business and clinical needs. In 2025, two renowned midwifery leaders, Crystal Peña, a midwife of 14 years, and Wendi Cleckner, a midwife of 25 years, came together to share their collective wisdom and expertise. Together, they offer a well-rounded, dynamic partnership dedicated to empowering and guiding midwives at every stage of their journey.

Wendi Cleckner, LM CPM JD Esq

Wendi, a lifelong Arizonan, has spent over 25 years in the birth world, transitioning from clinical practice to mentoring midwives and birthworkers. Combining her extensive clinical experience with legal expertise, she supports midwives at every stage of their journey. As the founder of multiple midwifery practices and an active board member, Wendi remains dedicated to educating, advocating, and strengthening the birth community.

Crystal Peña, CPM LM

Crystal has been providing holistic, evidence-informed home birth care to the Arizona community since 2014. In addition to serving families, she offers consultation services to midwives, providing mentorship, clinical guidance, and business support to help them thrive. Passionate about community birth advocacy, she is dedicated to empowering both midwives and the families they serve.
